This Week at DHD

Are you sick of my talk of digital scrapbooking, yet? Seriously I want to know.

If you haven’t heard of DHD or what’s going on with all that, you should probably check it out. TODAY. All new releases are 30% off every Thursday. There are over 70 new releases today. That’s a lot if you ask me! I didn’t release a ton of stuff this week, I’m still just settling down from Christmas and the New Year, but my goal is to release a new collection or parts of a collection every week. I’m not sure how realistic my goals are as I’m SUPER new to the digital scrapbooking thing and there’s quite a learning curve.

So among the few releases this week, I managed to make a blog kit. This is no cutest blog on the block kit. My first blog kit is like a blog on acid. Not that I would know. I’m hoping that one or two of you out there might like it. Maybe. Snatch it up for the discounted price of $5.59*. Holy crap, that’s cheap. Dirt cheap!

This surely won’t be my last blog kit. I redesign my own blog often enough, you’ll be seeing a lot of these in the future.

I really wanted to do a winter theme collection, so I did. It’s a mini collection. I really like scrolling. So I made snowflakes out of my handmade scrolling. Snatch these graphics for $4.19*. Hope you like them.

So I really want to open up this blog post to some serious conversation. I’d really, really like to hear what you think about digital scrapbooking, what you think of what I’ve done so far (do I dare? EEK!) and what you’d like to see more of in the scrapbooking industry. Will you help a girl out and let me pick your brain? Heck, I might even send a freebie your way if you leave a thoughtful comment!

*These discounted prices are valid today (January 7, 2009) only.

I have never done digital scrapbooking. I am not a real life scrapbooker either so my opinions don’t count for much but I love your designs. I really love the Winterlandia collection. The snowflakes and the larger scrolls are beautiful! I can’t believe you did it by hand. truly amazing!

Congrats on the foray into Digital Scrapbooking! Love your designs! I discovered digital scrapbooking about a year ago and I love the graphics that are available through these sites- and the fact that most are available to use on your website and other projects at very reasonable prices. I think I’ve used most stuff on the web or other special projects. I have done one scrapbook- our adoption profile book I did digitally since you need to have multiple copies and digital scrapbooking is perfect for that.

For someone that is graphic design challenged, but loves clever designs, these digital designs are awesome. Love the idea of a blog (and or website) kit!!

    3. No I am not sick of listening to your talk about digital scrapbooking and yes I am looking forward to all the designs you come out with! I’m so excited for this because I think your designs are very unique and I am excited to have a touch of IS-LY in my projects!

I like the psychedelic kit because it reflects the style I see in a lot of your work. The colors are so dissonant, however, I can’t think of anything I would actually use this paper for. PS I REALLY like the idea of a blog kit- It would be fun to have cool designer buttons on my blog :) Are those useable in blogger or only in WordPress?

The WinterWonderlandia kit is stunning. Already bought it. Just wish there was more in it! I plan to use it in some invitations I am making for a ward activity (the design theme we are using for the activity is SNOWFLAKES so this kit is very appropriate for this project).

I usually use digital scrapbooking for random projects… ie my current invitation project, my kids’ birthday invites, personal stationary/letters to friends, my personal blog, etc. I usually use embellishments sparingly and the I use scrapbooking paper to make thin borders as to not distract from my photo subjects.

More things I’d like to see in the scrapbooking industry: The blog kit is genius. Also, Can you make more invitation kits? I really like your Penelope’s birthday invite…
And of course, freebies are always welcome :P
If I think of more things… I’ll tell you.

Thanks for sharing and PS Penelope is DARLING!!!!!!!

This is so exciting and awesome that you’re designing these kits. I have never done digital scrapbooking before but I’d love to – I just need a computer to do so, hopefully one day. I love to scrapbook! What I’m always looking for are picture borders and page titles. I also love to make cards so anything with “Thank you”, “Thinking of you”, etc. would really come in handy. Good luck and Happy New Year!

Thanks so much for your thoughtful comments! Seriously, this has given me some food for thought.

The lovely decorators at DHD posted layouts of the Psychedelic Circus collection on the DHD blog. You should check it out. I LOVE how the decorators incorporated the crazy designs into kid layouts. Here’s the link:

Also, the blog kits are just graphics to implement on your own blogs, wordpress, typepad and/or blogger or any format for that matter. Instructions on implementation aren’t included (all that’s just a google away, anyway).

I’m definitely going to be doing more blog kits and hybrid kits. For sure! I love making printables! Hey, thanks to you all for your thoughtful comments. They’re always appreciated.

      Cheers!
      Melissa
