I Still Love Fashion

As you may know I started a fashion section (aka tumblr) recently. Here are a few of my recent favorites:

Total outfit cost: $20

Total outfit cost: $27

Total outfit cost: $18.50

I’m definitely having a lot more fun dressing my baby bump this time around. When I was pregnant with Penelope, I pretty much just wore what a knocked up 14 year old would wear: ill-fitting t-shirts under a little girl’s magenta jersey jumper & leggings. Gosh, I was practically considered a knocked up 14 year old, because I was 22 and pregnant in the Bay Area, where hardly anyone has babies under 35.

I know I just left a comment but couldn’t figure out how to comment on your tumblr. . . .anyway, did you make that handmade necklace? I love that you’re still wearing non maternity tops. :)

    5. Ashley says:

you are too adorable. your bump is very well dressed!

    6. Bellesme says:

Love the first shirt! Is it a maternity shirt because otherwise it wouldn’t go around your belly right? =)
I think the way you dress is so cute! You really take time and dress well even though you’re pregnant…

You look great! I love the maternity photos! I hope I look that good with a baby bump! [I’d love to see more!]

Yeah, I remember when you were pregnant! (The first time) I was secretly proud that you weren’t scared and did it young. I had all 3 of mine before I turned 30. BEST decision ever! haha

        Thanks, Everyone!!

Emily, here’s the link to the jersey necklace tutorial: Jersey Necklace Tutorial

Belleseme, The first sweater is actually my husband’s! I’ve yet to buy/wear any actual “maternity” clothes so far. It’s been so fun to experiment & see what I can get away with!

I love you I love you I love you!

I’m pregnant with my first and I was just texting a friend of mine because I just “popped” and I’m not a fan of a lot of maternity clothes. You are my inspiration! Thank you so much for these pictures!

Haha, So right. At 25 and pregnant in the bay area my midwife appointments tend to garner some decidedly concerned looks. “Gee, Amy, look at that little pregnant lady? Do you imagine she had time to finish her Ph.D?”

    11. SarahJane says:

I am LOVING this! I especially love the last outfit.

    12. ashlee says:

      you are adorable. really.

Love following your new fashion posts on the tumblr blog. I’m due in June and would love some tips! First of all you seem to wear jeggins a lot- are they actually comfortable? I think they would feel really tight on my belly. And to find non-maternity tops to cover the belly, what do you suggest- buying a size bigger, men’s tops, anything flowy or empire waist? You look super cute and I love seeing all of your outfits (and your growing belly)! Thanks!

        Congratulations, Tamara!

I do wear jeggings a lot. They’re my favorite!! Seriously, high tail it to WalMart & head for their LEI jeggings. They’re $12 & amazing. The waistband is perfectly stretchy for a growing waist AND the stretch in jeggings allow for the unpleasant swelling that can happen at the end of the day. I’ve been wearing those jeggings since before I got pregnant & they’re still very comfy. They’ll also be perfect for the post-pardum wardrobe. I do have a few pairs of leggings that I like to wear, with those I bought them a couple sizes too big to allow for my legs to grow without them becoming over stretched or possibly transparent.

As far as shirts go, I wear some of my husband’s sweaters from time to time (it definitely gives off an 80’s look), and those are great. I’ve been fortunate to find tunic tops at various places. Forever 21 is chock full of them. I usually buy those true to size. Also, if I feel like I’m drowning in a particular top, I just belt it above the bump. I feel like it gives me a little more shape.

        Hope those tips help!!

Too funny! I lived in the Bay Area and at 38 with three kids (under 8) people look at me like I must have started young! Oh and three? Only freaky people have more than two kids out here :)

You look fab by the way!

    15. Ashley says:

Where did you get that yellow cardigan? I’ve been looking for one with no success…

    16. trish says:

you are such a lovely mom! great job on those outfits :)

    17. Holly says:

      You are too funny.
I was way worse, I tried to wear my regular clothes! I hardly bought any maternity ( I was in denial, I think) I look forward to my next pregnancy so I can show off my belly proudly :)

    18. Jameson says:

I have to say that the belts over your pregnant belly look awful. Really? And no one is brave enough to say it.
