Printable: You Have Been BOOed

I’m not sure if this is a Utah thing, or something that happens in other neighborhoods around the globe, but around Halloween time neighbors doorbell ditch one another with treats and a little ghost. It’s sort of a pay-it-forward treat-giving thing that hopefully spreads to all the neighbors. There’s usually a little ghost graphic and instructions on how to pay it forward (much like amish friendship bread, but anonymous).

Last night we “got BOOed”. It sure makes me feel super loved to get treats delivered to my door. Really, we have fantastic neighbors. Unfortunately, the printed instructions tend to get muddled and pixellated after a few houses. So I redesigned ours. And added a QR code so friendly neighborhood ghosts can reprint without garbling up information.

Have you ever participated in something like this? You should do it. Your neighbors will love it.

i love this! i’d never actually heard of this until this week and now this makes the second time. my second grader told us that they got “boo-ed” at school and rodney and i were like, “oh that’s mean.” then he explained that a kid from another classroom did the whole doorbell ditch thing and left treats and how they all do it to each other. :)

it didn’t even dawn on me to do this with the neighbours, but will definitely take halloween to new neighbourly heights this year!

I so wish we celebrated Halloween in my town! (It’s not big in Australia). Love the idea of dropping in sweet things to my neighbours but I could just do it anyway :)

What are the odds? I’m catching up on blogs while my cookies bake! We Boo here in Boise :)

You redesigned it and added a QR code! Love it. Only a designer…

      Rock on…or rather, boo on.

We totally do this in our neighborhood (in Michigan), but our stuff is mostly store-bought goodies in cute little Halloween buckets. Love the idea of homemade things (:

We’ve never booed around here, just heart attacked around Valentine’s and when we know someone’d down in the dumps. Though, I’m not sure a lawn full of popsicle’d paper hearts is the funnest thing to open your door to, but the brownies usually soften the blow.

I might consider doing this someday, but probably not with homemade things. I don’t know many folks, so I don’t know how well a plate of cookies would go over with my neighbors, or what have you.

Love that you added a QR code! We did this when we were kids, but we called it the Phantom Ghost. This was in Utah, btw. But I’ve seen it all over pinterest recently so I assume it’s either always been around or it’s recently spread.
