Hold Them Close and Never Forget

I’m afraid of the kind of world my children are growing up in.

Maybe each of us can make a difference by holding loved ones close, treating others with kindness and finding ways to serve those that have fallen victim to hate and despair.

    1. These are such true words. Perhaps we can all learn more patience and understanding in each other. Things are not perfect. People are not always as they seem. And lives are not to be taken for granted.

      Beautiful. And beautiful thoughts.

Melissa, Love your words and calligraphy…so beautiful. My son is 19 now but, like you, I too have the same fears about the world.
A friend posted this on my Facebook wall a few days ago and it has helped to change my perspective.

“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’ To this day, especially in times of ‘disaster,’ I remember my mother’s words and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers – so many caring people in this world.” – Mr. Rogers (I love and miss Mr. Rogers)

I was leery about bringing children into an uncertain world. Then when I had them (they’re 8 and 5 now), I wanted to show them and give them everything wonderful about it. Still, I have my fears, and learn to deal with the things I do have control in. Because 99% of the time, the things we worry about never happens.
