I’m Teaching At Pinners Conference

I’m presenting at this year’s Pinners Conference! I’m teaching a very casual crash course into marker calligraphy on Friday November 6 at noon! See a list of classes right here. Use code MELISSA for 10% off your ticket.

I’m going to take you through the veeeeeery beginnings of doing calligraphy with markers. The class only lasts an hour so I’ll be taking attendees through a guided craft (Holiday cards!) using markers and script.

I hope you come! It’s going to be a fun event with all sorts of great ideas, crafts, classes and items to help you gear up for the holiday season. I’ll have a table set up at the event selling class kits (brush kits and pointed pen kits) and lettering names for people.

The challenge with only an hour long class is that I can’t possibly do a full beginner course. We’ll be focusing on the importance of positioning and grip (I’ll be walking around and helping people with that physically – LEFTIES included!). I’ll give you the techniques to get started on the right footing and we’ll create our own stationery using the methods learned in class. You’ll be making beautiful projects right off the bat!

Bummed you can’t make it? Take my Beginning Brush Lettering class online instead! It’s far more thorough than a crash course and I’ll send you a kit and everything. ;) Or sign up for our email newsletter below to find out about live workshops and discounts.

Will you ever do this again, at the Pinners or somewhere else? I’m taking another class at that time, and am SOOOO bummed I’m missing this!!

I’ll do classes from time to time locally. It’s very sporadic, though. Sign up for the email list if you’d like to get the word on one of those.

I am unable to sign up for your brush class. I click on your link and it goes to calligraphy.org and it won’t let me sign in or register. I would love to do the class. Help!

    3. I can’t make it to the conference but would love to take a class. I bought a nice fountain pen a few months ago and I’m in love.

I’ll be teaching a second class on Saturday, but if you can’t make that, I would recommend signing up for the newsletter or for the online class at calligraphy.org. :)

        Fountain pens are addicting!

Hey! I saw in the comments that you are teaching a 2nd class on Saturday. I can’t find it on the site, so I wanted to double check and see! It looks awesome. And can you tell me what’s included in the class fee?

      • Melissa says:

I am teaching a second class! The first is all full (I believe). The second class is a Q&A, focusing on key tips for learning calligraphy and live demos. I don’t have a materials fee for that one. It’s just a come-and-take-notes kind of class. Hope that helps! Saturday at 5pm, I believe! The first class, if you sign up, includes paper, envelopes, a rad brush marker, pencil, pencil case, bag and washi tape!
