Freebie: Thank You Card Design

Thanksgiving is upon us! It’s one of those awesome holidays that not only gets over looked, but the real meaning tends to be forgotten, too. Let’s give thanks this year, and every year.

Write out a heartfelt thank you to someone tomorrow. Heck, write out 10.

I recently scored a ton of awesome envelopes, so I have no excuses for not sending out some heartfelt thank yous. I really hope you do the same. Let’s remember what we’re thankful for.

This printable is sized to fit a standard #9 envelope, a fold-over card for a standard A2 envelope or a simple postcard. Print this with a laserprinter on kraft paper and watercolor the graphic for a more hand-drawn look! If this doesn’t float your Thanks boat, check out all these other Thank You printables:

Hope you travel safe and have a fun and tasty Thanksgiving!!

Calligraphy: I Make Fashion

I love working on projects with Megan Nielsen. She asked me to make a design with “I Make Fashion” on it and keep with her branding. I did a mono line piece in lowercase with symmetrical flourishes.

In this piece, the words go up on the right while the flourishes go down on the right; sort of making a visual x-marks the calligraphy spot. I’m more than jazzed how it turned out. I plan on sporting this tote as often as possible.

I’m pretty stoked to have gotten it in the mail in time for sewing summit. Maybe all the other garment sewists will think I’m cool. That’s my hope at least. You can purchase your own here.

Lettered: Ashlee Proffitt

Ashlee asked me to letter her logo ages ago. I had so much fun working with her on her logo, it’s such a thrill to finally see it “in the wild”.

I believe that Ashlee did the rest of her design collateral and Katelyn Brooke did the site implementation. It’s super to see what came from three different designers.

Collaboration is king.

Lettered: Linnea Paulina Logo

More often than not, I have dreamy clients. It never gets old, though, when something just clicks. Working for Linnea was totally that!

She was working with a graphic designer and web developer for her branding, but wanted a hand-lettered touch for her logo. She approached me and we got right to work. One of the best things she did was curate a pinterest board of mood images that helped me get a clear picture of what she wanted. It wasn’t all graphic design and branding, but mostly just inspirational images that mimicked the feel she wanted when people clicked over to her site.

I’ve never really thought about it before, but it really helped that it wasn’t all graphic design inspiration. There’s such great design out there, it’s hard not to ‘pin’ it all when looking for new branding. She kept it curated and tight with some design inspiration to draw from. I LOVED that.

Linnea emailed me a couple days ago letting me know her site is now live. It’s beautiful. I had nothing to do with the design or layout of the blog, just the lettering of the logo. Cathy of Love Inspired did all the design and development, and she’s good.

Redesigned: Megan Nielsen

Megan Nielsen continues to be one of my favorite design clients. We’re so much on the same wavelength, it’s fantastic to work together.

Over the last couple months I’ve been working on her blog layout. She wanted her blog to reflect her patterns and style better, so we went to town. She also wanted a fixed nav that would always be located at the top of the screen, no matter where on the blog you’ve scrolled to. Megan Nielsen’s branding is simple, but with a few custom surprises here and there. I thought it would be a fun take on the fixed nave to have a curve in there.

It was fancy footwork on Chris’s part, getting it to look right, but he did it. The man is building serious development chops with his job. I can’t wait for him to get his hands on this blog.

I’m really happy with how it all turned out. Check out Megan Nielsen Design Diaries for the full experience.

So, as I’m looking to redesign this site, what kind of features would you like to see around here? Anything you could live without? Now that I’ve started dreaming up my design, there are a lot of things I could live without.
