Valentine Brush Calligraphy Workshop

How are we looking at Valentine’s plans already? EEP? Where has the time gone? I keep meaning to do a calligraphy workshop IN PERSON, and it just never happens. That’s probably why Alix and I started planning this workshop back in October. I’m so looking forward to partying, hopefully you can be there! If not, there’s always my online class. It’s pretty fun, too.

Alix and I have planned an awesome night out with lovely letters, good food, a photobooth (naturally) and great company. We’re going to learn the basics behind pointed brush calligraphy (or brush lettering as most people call it) and we’re going to make some fun little valentines.

Fee includes: food, photobooth, valentine-making craft supplies, the above calligraphy kit (9 markers, pad of paper, exemplar book, pencil, glitter pen & zippered pouch). The class is limited, so it will be an intimate workshop with lots of hands-on help.

Will you be my valentine?

Valentine’s Calligraphy Workshop in SLC,UT

I’m teaching another workshop in the Salt Lake City area! I’ll be covering the basics that I teach in my regular classes plus how to write the perfect love letter and address it. Join me on February 1st from 5:30-8:30!

The workshop is 3 hours, it includes one-on-one instruction, dinner and a kit with all the supplies you need to get started. The kit includes:

  • a selection of nibs
  • nib holders
  • ink
  • pencil
  • paper
  • guide sheets
  • stationery

It’ll all be packaged in a pretty box for you to take home with you.

Calligraphy Workshop in Salt Lake City

I’m feeling settled enough to host another live, modern calligraphy workshop! A few of you have asked if/when I would be offering another live class, and it’s time. I hope to be doing more of these kinds of workshops on a regular basis.

On Saturday September 1 from 2-4pm, I will be teaching a modern calligraphy workshop out of my home in Draper, Utah. I would love to see you there!

In the two hour workshop, you will learn the basics of traditional Copperplate calligraphy, a brief history of its beginnings, how to work with the pointed pen and how to make calligraphy your own. The workshop includes the two hour session and a basic kit for getting started. This does not include access to the online course or gallery. Space is limited. The workshop (including materials fees) is $60.

I Still Love Calligraphy

Today is the day. It’s been a looooong time coming. I present to you I Still Love Calligraphy, an online calligraphy course geared towards modern copperplate calligraphy.

If you’re interested in learning modern calligraphy based on the copperplate style, I do hope you give this course a go. It’s been a team effort between Chris and me. Originally we were going to put the course on a password protected wordpress platform, but when Chris lost his job back in January, he took it as an opportunity to build what I needed from scratch.

I’m so proud of the work Chris did, especially considering he didn’t really start developing sites until a year and a half ago.

Here are the awesome features about this site and course:

  • it’s a stand-alone site with a shopping cart equipped for selling and distributing securely digital downloads
  • there are multiple nav bars (top, bottom and side) for you to navigate your way around the coursework and your account
  • in the course, you have 8 lessons with step-by-step illustrations and photos to clarify techniques and theory
  • 4 videos are available as supplements to the lessons that cover topics of tools, basic strokes, flourishes and making calligraphy yours

Last Minute Calligraphy Class

Hey All! I’m doing a calligraphy class in PHOENIX, yeah! If you’re in the Phoenix area, or will be the day after Thanksgiving, you should come to my class! It’s at my in-law’s on Friday, November 29, 2013 from 10-12 am.
