Sponsored: 2013 Thank You Printable

Inspired by this month’s entertainment theme for the Fiesta Movement, I wonder what does November mean to you? Is it full of food, family, movies and thanksgiving? Or is it just like every other month?

My November isn’t full of surf days and slow-mo photobooths (how brilliant is that idea?). The entire month took on a more spiritual tone when I was growing up. My mom really focused the whole month on gratitude and thanksgiving. Making sure the holiday wasn’t just some speedbump on the super-speedy raceway to Christmas.

I love that she protected Thanksgiving.

I want to guard it in my home, too. Christmas decor (not that I really have any) doesn’t show up until after our blessed Thanksgiving weekend. Neither does the music. Perhaps there’s so little Christmas music I actually like, I’d hate for it to be on repeat longer than 3 1/2 weeks.

How should we celebrate Thanksgiving? Is it just a day to be had towards the end of November where we eat more than we should have, nap and watch sports games? Or is it a day where we take stock in the life’s many blessings? I’ll be doing a little bit of both (minus sports, I don’t do sports).

I encourage you to spend some time this month (we could all spare a half hour once a week, right?) to write a heartfelt thank you to someone who has inspired or helped you. To make things easy, I’ve designed “Thank You” postcard for you to print from home. I’ve done half the work for you. All you need is a pen and a stamp.

This month I’ll be working on writing more Thank You notes and prepping for a meaningful Thanksgiving celebration. Having several of these postcards on hand will help me achieve that.

Printable: Painted Gift Tag

I designed these printable gift tags for Emma Mag last month (see page 59!). I’ve been meaning to share these with you, but I haven’t wrapped a single Christmas gift until today!!

The design is really basic, I hand lettered to and from on the front with a bunch of holly leaves on the back. Print it on any color paper and paint or keep it plain if you want! They’re a really easy craft (and fantastic for wee ones looking to get crafty, too).

The lovely ladies from The Girls With Glasses featured my tag on their most recent video. You can see how they styled their tags here.

Download the printable below.

Printable: You Have Been BOOed

I’m not sure if this is a Utah thing, or something that happens in other neighborhoods around the globe, but around Halloween time neighbors doorbell ditch one another with treats and a little ghost. It’s sort of a pay-it-forward treat-giving thing that hopefully spreads to all the neighbors. There’s usually a little ghost graphic and instructions on how to pay it forward (much like amish friendship bread, but anonymous).

Last night we “got BOOed”. It sure makes me feel super loved to get treats delivered to my door. Really, we have fantastic neighbors. Unfortunately, the printed instructions tend to get muddled and pixellated after a few houses. So I redesigned ours. And added a QR code so friendly neighborhood ghosts can reprint without garbling up information.

Have you ever participated in something like this? You should do it. Your neighbors will love it.

Freebie: Frilly Floral Download

One of my freelance jobs didn’t work out, so I thought I’d use some of those unused graphics for a printable for you today.

I’ve been trying to branch out with my work to include more analog art and graphics into my design work. Painting these flowers was definitely a nice exercise to get back into the art end of things.

My mom grew the most amazing irises when we grew up. They were enormous and so colorful. I’ve painted that flower a zillion times, so it was fun to branch out of that as well. Although this definitely has me in the mood to paint a few more irises for my own house.

This particular card is headed nowhere, but I need to get my letter/card writing on. I’ve got a lot of overdue thank yous to send.

I’ve included two versions of the simple fold card. One with thanks written on it and the other blank for you to keep blank or fill in as you wish. Click the button to download. All artwork is subject to ISLY terms of use.
