Ruche sent me the Under the Aztec Sun dress back in May and of course I instantly fell in love with the color & the print. This coral/orangey color is perhaps one of my favorites at the moment. Plus, I think it’s one of those fashionable colors that my pale skin tone can handle.
It’s a short dress, which is perfect for pairing with leggings (or alone, if you dare). I don’t own or wear many smocked tube tops, so I found myself adjusting quite often to keep the top in place. Maybe this is only a struggle for the small-chested? I really have no idea.
After wearing it one time, the smocking started coming undone. Huge let down, no? I emailed Ruche letting them know what happened & this was their response: “If customers ever receive defective merchandise, we encourage them to e-mail us and we’ll help them out. We always issue a prepaid return label (so they don’t have to pay for return shipping) and either replace the item or issue a complete refund.”
That’s so great to know. Often times online shopping can be a big quality gamble & I love that Ruche stands by their clothing. The smocking issue seems like a complete fluke to me as all of the Ruche clothing I’ve received or purchased has been top-notch. That said, I opted to keep the dress & fix it myself. I decided I wanted to trim down the smocking & wear it as a skirt, so it’d be no big deal to fix the smocking while doing so.
I went back & forth on whether or not I should sew a legit waistband onto it, but ultimately I like the option of still being able to wear it as a tube dress/top if my heart so desires.
This is the complete opposite from the time when I bought a orange swimsuit online that ended up being completely see-through! YIKES. I ended up making the return, but I had to pay for shipping to return the item, plus they didn’t refund the original shipping. It wasn’t that big of a deal, but I still never shopped there again.
Bottom line is, Ruche has fantastic customer service. And customer service is king, in my humble opinion. Ruche wants to offer a lucky reader a $40 gift certificate to their shop! Here’s how to enter:

Ah, so many choices! I love their sweet, vintage-y style! I had a couple of picks but some of them are the Vintage excursion long coat and beauty in bloom indie ring. Especially the ring. So pretty!

I just bought a dress & a skirt from Ruche last night! I’m a fan of theirs and have always been happy with my purchases. If I won, I’d probably splurge on accessories (which I rarely do). Maybe the Bow of Beauty Straw Hat or a ruched scarf.
My worst customer service experience was with a software company that I bought an update through. I updated the software and had to switch from a PC to a Mac version. This took a couple of months to convince them that I had actually destroyed the PC version. Then, when they finally sent the Mac version, I opened the box and found two CDs. Yup, they charged me $650 TWICE. I had to call the customer service number and argue with them even more and it still took a few months for them to return my $650! I’m glad Ruche had such great service!

I actually just had a bad customer service experience today! After I walked away from the register, I realized I had been overcharged. It took talking to 3 separate employees to determine that I was right, the product I had chosen was labeled the price I expected…but they wouldn’t adjust it for me! Grr. I agree with you though – customer service is king!

I recently ordered a swimsuit only… which never arrived. I called the company and they gladly sent me a replacement without any hullaballoo. That’s what I call good customer service!

For my customer service nightmare: I bought plane tickets to Paraguay via Brazil. My friend I was going to travel with backed out on me and I decided to cancel the Paraguay leg of my trip and stay in Brazil. Unfortunately we bought our plane tickets on an internet website through a foreign travel agency (my friend’s idea). I spent hours and weeks on the phone, leaving messages and begging them to call me back. In the end, they wanted to charge me $550 to change my ticket to stay in Brazil. When I questioned the agent I had been dealing with over the last three months or so, she became angry and told me to call the airline and not call her ever again. I called the airline directly and the sweet Brazilian said to me, “Just stay in Brazil. It won’t cost you anything, just don’t get on the plane to Paraguay.” I wanted to hug this woman. So simple, and I didn’t have to pay anything after all that headache.

Yeah! I love the twilight serenade tube dress. I’ve never ordered from Ruche before and would love to! My worst customer service experience has been ordering a phone online. I wasn’t ready for my upgrade with the phone company yet, so I ordered from an online retailer. The phone I received didn’t work and though they refunded the purchase price, I was out the return shipping. :(

I love Ruche! I ordered the oak park printed dress in teal by mata traders not too long ago and LOVE IT!!! The funky print and color is so fun. I would totally order another one of their dresses! Awesome give-a-way!
