Thrifty & Chic: Ameribabies Track Suit

Chris has a track suit that’s mostly white with blue & red stripes. He often wears it on the weekends with his blue tinted aviator glasses (Yes, they’re prescription & yes he wears them indoors & at night). It’s probably one of my favorite outfits of his. Usually he just pairs the jacket with his acid-wash jeans to avoid being completely matchy-matchy. I love his acid-wash jeans, too.

While at D.I. today, I saw a sweet little knit track suit (brand = Ameribabies. Isn’t that awesome!?) for Felix that’s pretty much the man-child version of Chris’s track suit. I couldn’t pass it up and since it was only $2 I would’ve had to check myself into a mental institution if I hadn’t bought it. It’s size 9 months, but I’m going to dress Felix in it as soon as possible. Perhaps tomorrow. I’ll be sure to get (and post!) pics of Chris & the F-bomb in their matching outfits.

Have you found any sweet deals? Unfortunately the two rad dressers that I had found via KSL were sold before I could get to them. This dresser hunt is driving me crazy! I just want a solid wood Mid-century style dresser. For under $100. Is that too much to ask?! ;)

Hi, my name is Melissa & I am a cheapskate.

No, that is not too much to ask. When looking for a dresser for my little one, I went shopping with my MIL first who took me to all of these boutique-y used furniture stores, and everything was over $200. They were also too ornate, and pretty low as I wanted to double it as a changing table. My MIL conveyed that she thought I would never find what I wanted and that I was passing up good deals. I went to a local used furniture place called the Bargain Barn, and found exactly what I wanted, with a raised lip that just happens to fit a changing pad, exactly $100 as soon as I got out of the car. Sitting in the parking lot, waiting to be moved. Bonus, it was hand made by someone. So you’ll find it, just keep looking!

I found a size 2T suit for my son the other day for only $4. It made my whole week. I blogged about it here: http://teamcowanzk.blogspot.com/2011/03/dapper-dans.html

James and I were at Savers today and found some sweet Guess combat boots. They were $15, a little pricey, but now all he needs is his motorcycle to work and he is good to go!

That outfit will look so cute teamed up with his dad’s.
Good luck finding the perfect dresser. I feel bad because I think I have what you’re looking for but I don’t think I could sell it. It was from my late Grandma’s house. It is solid wood, dove tail construction and is mid-century. I would say it’s danish modern/scandinavian. I know how lucky I am to have it and now I feel even more lucky. I’ll keep my eyes open for you.

A local second-hand store has a 25 cent sale once a month and I totally scored Italian leather loafers! For one quarter! They were half a size too small for me (and I blame pregnancy feet) so I sent them on to my sister.

I love matchy outfits for father and son when they are little … can’t wait to see their picture.

I found an awesome vintage folding chair in perfect condition for $4. Posted about it here: http://www.prettylittlenest.com/2011/03/have-seat.html
