I’m starting to feel better about my sewing with a few successful projects under my belt these days.
Laura sent me this awesome navy polka dot top that needed a slight fit adjustment. It’s made of some sort of polyester knit fabric so it was a little bit slippery, but not as mischievous as the last one.
I didn’t have to take in the shoulders, it just needed shorter sleeves and a narrower bodice. I took it in by about 2 inches on each side, and cut off about 3 inches of sleeve. It’s a fantastic staple shirt that will go well with cardigans this winter, or with flowy skirts this summer.
I love the little keyhole in the back.
I’m pretty excited to party in my new shirt, can you tell?

Adorable! I hope this helps you get your sewing groove back.
oh i totally want your shirt.
I have like three shirts in my to-mend pile that have that exact shape with slippery mysterious/polyester material. The only difference is that I acutally have to take in the shoulders about half in on each one. It’s an intimidatinng refashion, but I want to wear the shirts. After seeing this post maybe I’ll tackle them this weekend. It’s such a good top to dress up or down. Thanks for the awesome posts!
I love that you have a vision for these. When I saw the before, I hated it, but I LOVE it after the refashion. :)
So cute! I love that you made a weirdly shaped shirt so much better.
Do you need me to take some pictures of some of my sewing projects? I’m sure you’d feel pretty good about what you do. There was a bathing suit I attempted to make. At one point I ripped it off the machine and threw it in the corner behind a magazine rack where it stayed for two years. Countless ill-fitting t-shirt alterations. Plenty of raw seams, too. Melted some polyester with Fray Check once. There may not be crying in baseball, but I’ve shed a lot of tears in the sewing room.
Perfect! I’m so glad you are getting some use out of them! And thanks for linking me! :)
